Day 26

On our last day in beautiful Oregon we took a 198 mile round trip sightseeing journey along Hell’s Canyon Scenic Byway. The canyon is North America’s deepest river gorge carved by the Snake River, over a mile below Oregon’s west rim. We enjoyed the diverse landscape, rivers and mountains. We stopped in Halfway, Oregon for lunch, a cute little town in the middle of large cattle/horse and hay production area.

Would be nice to find gas for $38.9 HA HA!

Day 25

Well I saw the dentist today and he put me on some antibiotics to help until we get home to our regular dentist. We then visited the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. This was a small exhibit but very well done with a lot of information about the people who made that journey. We also had an opportunity to walk along some of the Oregon Trail wagon wheel ruts that have been preserved.

Here are a couple of shots from yesterday's drive across Oregon.

Day 24 7/22

We finished our drive across Oregon to Baker City, OR, this is one beautiful state. The drive was on a very good state route, one of the best roads we have been on. After we set up the trailer I had to make an appointment with a dentist for tomorrow to take care of a toothache, not what we had planned but we have three nights here and will still have time to sight-see.

Day 23

This morning Don and I took a drive back into the park and was able to get some better pictures of Crater Lake because of the light. Karen and I then drove 130 miles to Prinville, OR then another 100 miles round trip to the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Painted Hills Unit. It is a small area but we both agreed it was worth the drive. There is still no internet and limited phone service.

Day 22

We arrived at the campground near Crater Lake around noon then took the drive around the lake. WOW! I don’t remember ever seeing water that blue. We stopped at several pull outs to view the lake and volcano and decided to come back for a few more shots the next morning to get better light.
It sure is beautiful and Karen got another National Park patch to add to her collection for her scrap-booking. No internet today.

Day 21

Our last day at the rally was relaxing as we said goodbye to those leaving. We leave on Monday for Crater Lake National Park and start our journey back to Ohio with more sightseeing along the way as well as two more rallies. We will be attending the Manufactures Rally in Goshen, IN where they have presentations, meals and free repairs to your unit, I have a list! Then we will be off to Frankenmuth, MI for our Mid-West Rally. It is a little cooler today only 101°. Stay tuned more to come!

Day 20

It is a hot one today; our thermometer is sitting at 107°, it was 55° when we got up this morning. You set a schedule well in advance of an activity like these rallies and today, our hottest day we had a chili cook off, oh well! The chilies were great then we held our 50/50 raffle; we won a $100 Wal-Mart gift card. There was also a white elephant gift exchange which was fun.
