Well it has been quiet in Ocala as we started getting familiar with the area. We were to have thanksgiving with Karen’s sister but her husband Allen wound up in the hospital so Thanksgiving was cancelled and we went to Cracker Barrel. The day after we checked into the Disney Movies Resort, only 70 miles from the campground, and enjoyed our time at one of our favorite places all decked out for Christmas.
While there I did not take many pictures with a few exceptions, in fact after the first day I left the camera in the room and used my phone. This allowed us to just take in the sites and not see it through the lens, much more enjoyable.

Here are a few shots I took.

This is our campsite, a long pull through and wide enough to park the truck in its own space. As we walked around we found most all of the other sites were tight on width. Our awning faces North so we do not get the sun in the patio area. Warm days in the high 70s and cool nights in the 50s for November.

Our last stop in Savannah was a visit to the Tybee Island Light Station and the North Beach. It was a beautiful day with clear sunny skies and getting warmer. We got to the light station to find it closed on Tuesdays but the outside was nice. I wish they would have at least raised the flag. We then walked over to the North Beach entrance only to find the beach closed due to cleanup from the hurricane. The view was blocked by the huge piles of shredded trees and debris, oh well it was still a nice day. Got back to the camper to ready things for our journey to our winter home in Ocala, FL.

The Old Savannah Trolley Tour was today. A shuttle picked us up at the campground and transported us to the trolley location. The total tour is 90 minutes but you can get on and off all day. The drivers all have the same script so even though you have different drivers, the narration stays the same. This was a good way you get a feel for the city. We got on and off a couple of times then had a good lunch at the Pirates’ House said to be the oldest house in Georgia built in 1734. We then walked along the riverfront, then back into the old historic Savannah district. The Southern Live Oaks, the state tree, is what makes this city so unique in addition the architecture. We were told that the more iron around the house the wealthier the owner.  The city is filled with park squares with fountains and monuments. Well worth the visit.

November 10, 2016
This was an easy travel day, nice sunshiny, cool day. Because of the lack of rain the area is under a no burn, high fire warning. We only moved 255 miles towards Savannah to Barnyard RV Park, been here before, a good overnight inexpensive spot. No Wi-Fi and diesel was not available at a lot of stations but I found some a few miles away. After dinner, we watched a movie then did some reading and relaxed with the fireplace going. This was a very nice day.

We arrived at Savannah Oaks RV Resort after a short drive but long time because there was an incident on I 95 that delayed us about an hour. Savanna Oaks is an older campground with large oak trees and Spanish moss. Beautiful location however the sites are long and narrow. A motor home pulled in next to us and if we both had our awnings out they would touch. We are here for five days.

We started our day with a trip to Wal-Mart for groceries and a few things. After lunch we decided to go the Tybee Island to see the light house and beaches. To get there we had to drive through a portion of Savannah and get an idea of how it would be to sightsee the city. We are glad we did this drive because there is no way to park our dually and the streets are very narrow so our sightseeing will be to take a trolley sightseeing tour which will send a shuttle to the campground to pick us up. I will talk more about that later. As we got to Tybee Island the street we needed to be on were closed off for a veteran’s day Parade and activity so we could not get to the light house and found a street that had metered parking and we walked to the deserted beach. Well it was deserted because it was overcast, 64 degrees and windy. As we made our way back through Savannah we drove by the visitor center which had free parking but not for our truck. Back to camp for our afternoon coffee, dinner, a nap and relax again with the fireplace keeping the chill off.

Not a real beach day!

Walking back to the truck, love these trees!
