Day 56
We had planned on visiting Exit Glacier in the morning but
delayed it due to rain and took the shuttle into town. It started raining
harder so we stopped into a bakery and got a great cream cheese and apple bear
claw and coffee, mmm! We did go to the glacier in the afternoon and took the ranger
walk about 2 miles round trip with Ranger Fiona who was very good and we
learned a lot about glaciers and how they recede. An example she gave was
picking up a rock left behind as the glacier moved and this rock could have traveled
from California. There are date signs along the road and trail that indicate
that the toe of the glacier was there at that time. This was a very interesting
walk.
