It rained last
night and was sprinkling this morning. After breakfast the sun shone through
our stained glass window and the sky started to clear so we headed for the
Great Sand Dunes. As we got closer the mountain behind the dunes was cloudy and
no sun getting in. We went into the visitor center and took photos of the
beautiful stained glass mural. We decided to take a hike on the dunes even
though it was still overcast. The hike was only a one half mile to the first
dune and we stopped there for a while then headed back to take the 4x4 trail
road. Well we did not get very far and met another truck coming out and they
had gotten to a sign that said “Point of No Return” and lower the tire pressure
to 20 psi. That was not going to happen so we turned around.

We headed for San
Luis and the Shrine of the Stations of the Cross. Wow, this was worth the
journey. The three quarter mile trail up a small mesa was lined with a series
of bronze sculptures of Christ’s journey to the cross and resurrection. At the
top is the chapel, La Capilla de Todos Los Santos (The Chapel of All saints).
Below lies the village and valley. This walk gives you an opportunity for
meditation or reflection.
Each station told what it was with scripture next to it.
There are 12 stations, these are samples.
This one shows how much Christ suffered for us!
